Steven Kolberg, Project Manager
Steven is the point person at Bright Power for work under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Green Retrofit Program (GRP) and Mark-to-Market Program (M2M). Steven conducts energy audits at HUD properties where he analyzes existing building systems and utility usage in order to inform recommendations for energy efficiency improvements. He also manages the HUD Utility Bill Consumption Analysis (UBCA) reports in order to accurately analyze the effectiveness of energy efficiency improvements at HUD housing properties across the country.
While on energy audits, Steven works closely with property staff and residents in order to determine the most effective and needed upgrades at a property. He also works with property managers and utility companies to diligently track down billing data in order to accurately analyze and benchmark energy consumption. Along the way, Steven has had opportunities to educate utility customer service representatives, curious why he’s calling them from a NYC area code, and TSA x-ray baggage screeners, curious about the contents of an energy auditor’s baggage, about energy efficiency and the relevance of both HUD programs.
Steven is also an active member of Bright Power’s NYC LL84 benchmarking team, where he guides property managers through benchmarking and manages property portfolios throughout the entire process in order to ensure compliance.
Steven is a BPI Multifamily Building Analyst, and has an A.B. from Bowdoin College where he double-majored in Environmental Studies and Government and minored in Biology. Steven is a hibernating soccer player, telemark skier and gardener.
