Bright Employee: Iveliz Quiñones, AR Specialist

BLOG

We’re proud of the intelligent, passionate, and hardworking people that make up the Bright Power team. Each month, you’ll get a chance to meet one of them, understand how they contribute to the organization, and what makes them excited to come to work every day.

Meet Iveliz Quiñones, Accounts Receivable Specialist.

What are some of the things you like most about working at Bright Power?
My department, the Finance department. It’s a small group of only a few people, but I see them more like friends than just coworkers. We’re different people, and we learn from each other, which really bonds us. And we’re more than just the “money group”—we help make the company move forward and grow.

I also enjoy the diversity of Bright Power employees’ experiences and expertise and the interest everyone has in each other and their work. Everyone is so passionate about their field and what they do. I love the passing conversations where you might be eating lunch in a communal area, and others will join and ask about how our department works and how we do our jobs. I have had many conversations where people will ask how a different scenario may impact them, their client, and their work. It also allows me to do the same and ask about their work and how they run their department.

What are some projects and accomplishments you’re most proud of?
I was given the opportunity to control our Accounts Receivable (AR) department, organize our efforts, build a process, and communicate with our customers. I have a great team to help those efforts, but I’m the one who owns the process and gets on the phone with our customers. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built with our customers. I make it a point to put myself out there so they can get to know me and are happy to see my name or phone number on their caller ID when I call.

I also am very proud of my youngest daughter, who just got into the college of her choice! She wants to study bioengineering.

What’s something people might not know about you?
Many of my coworkers know I came to Bright Power after experiencing Hurricane Maria’s devastation in Puerto Rico. But they don’t know that I’m a native New Yorker, born and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn! Coming to work at Bright Power and moving back to New York was like moving home.

What’s the one service offering we have that you think is the most beneficial to clients and why?
It’s hard for me to choose just one, but these two come to mind: our energy analysis and our incentive program management.

Our energy analysis gives our customers a better understanding of what’s really going on in their buildings. They need that understanding to see the big picture of their options and how we can help them make their buildings better. Our energy analysts touch so many buildings across the country, and they have to understand how our other services and solutions impact our customers’ buildings.

Our incentive program management is also very impactful for our clients. We help them find ways to lower the cost of projects.
