Session: Benchmarking Lessons Learned from Service and Product Providers

Tuesday, April 16, 10:30 a.m. – Noon

Many governments across the country now require public disclosure of building energy performance, while many others are considering similar legislation. To meet mandates and take advantage of financial incentives, multifamily properties are benchmarking in increasing numbers. This session will focus on the tools and methods that ENERGY STAR service and product providers are using to help their customers comply with disclosure legislation. Panelists will share lessons learned and case studies from their experience accessing and benchmarking utility data in multiple markets to help attendees understand requirements, anticipate possible pitfalls, and learn how to benefit from benchmarking. You will learn about the significant energy drivers in multifamily properties and how best to adjust them to ensure maximum efficiency and comfort for residents. Hear about services and tools currently available in the marketplace to benchmark multifamily buildings from established service and product providers. Panelists will share details about energy disclosure legislation and regulations from companies with experience helping develop laws as well as customers comply with mandates, where laws have been passed and are pending, common requirements, compliance problems and future demands. You will leave with knowledge about other drivers and resources in the marketplace, financial incentives for retrofits, utility policies, corporate environmental policies, and industry trends that are increasing the demand for and access to utility data.
