Bright Employee: Zoe Grossman, Manager of New Construction

BLOG

We’re proud of the intelligent, passionate, and hardworking people that make up the Bright Power team. Each month, you’ll get a chance to meet one of them, understand how they contribute to the organization, and what makes them excited to come to work every day.

Meet Zoe Grossman, Manager of New Construction.

What are some of the things you like most about working at Bright Power?
Being surrounded by so many people with the same passion for sustainability!

I always have the opportunity to learn from other team members and am encouraged to attend and speak at company and industry events. I’m very grateful I get to learn from the many strong female leaders and role models on my team. It’s pretty unique to have a construction division led by women: Andrea Mancino, EVP of New York; Carmel Pratt, Director of New Construction; Drashti Dhirwani, Manager of Building Rehabilitations; and Savini Nenmini, Manager of High Performance Buildings.

I also have been encouraged to run with my ideas when I think of improvements to an existing process. Bright Power’s a place where I can speak up, my voice is heard, and I’m given the autonomy to run with it.

What’s something people might not know about you?
I have always been passionate about ocean conservancy. I love to snorkel and scuba dive. My favorite trips have been to Ambergris Caye off of the coast of Belize and the Great Barrier Reef off of Australia. I’m hoping my next destination can be Hawaii. Here are some photos from my dives.

What is a project you’re most proud of?
Right now I am working with another Bright Power Project Manager, Elise Fabbri, on a 200-bed women’s shelter in Manhattan. The project has a lot of exciting challenges that I am looking forward to working through. One of which is ensuring the building is in compliance with New York’s Local Laws 92 and 94 that require new buildings (among others) to install solar or a green roof. The building is wedged between high rises, so the location is not ideal for solar, however, I’m excited to work with our client and look into the benefits of a green roof!

What’s the one service offering we have that you think is the most beneficial to clients and why?
Continuous commissioning with MoBIUS. I’m on the side of the business that sets up a building for success, but these service offerings ensure the building continues to perform well throughout its lifetime once tenants occupy the building. Even though these are separate service offerings from my division, we work together as one team to ensure a project’s success.
